The idea of writing a Cantonese-Italian dictionary was born in the mind of the author, Marco Bosio, when he was studying his first year of the course of Cantonese Language at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, during the nineties. Even at that time English-Cantonese dictionaries were few and rather poorly made, while an Italian-Cantonese was non-existing. Marco started to write down words learned from friends, seen written on advertisements or in magazines and newspapers, learned on the street, and became very curious about Cantonese characters, and their somewhat confuse use even by native speakers.
The dictionaries are available in digital form only, and Marco's website cantonesedictionary.eu also shows a gallery of texts written in Cantonese from many sources.
